Rory Phillips
Rory Phillipsは、「Durrr」や「Our Disco」、「Trash」といったロンドンの名高いパーティでのDJを通して、10年間にわたってロンドンのナイトライフを彩り続け、現在はヨーロッパや北米、アジアにも活動の場を広げつつある。彼は、90年代後半の地方での活動を経てロンドンに移り、Erol Alkanによって、その常に新しい音を見つけ出すエクレクティックなセンスと知識を見い出された。Erolにの抜擢によって、ロンドンの伝説的パーティ「Trash」のレジデントDJとなったRoryは、続いてすぐにイースト・ロンドンの名高いミュータント・ディスコ・クラブ「Our Disco」のヘッドラインの座も獲得している。新しい音を発見するための「Trash」と、古い音を掘り起こす「Our Disco」の双方での活動から、彼の独自のDJスタイルは産み出されたと言ってよい。RoryのDJプレイにおいて、ポスト・パンク、ロック、エレクトロ、ディスコ、シンセポップといった多様な音楽がミックスされるが、彼は、それらの差異を強調するのではなく、類似性を引き出すことによって、ジャンル間の点と点を結び付けていく。そのスタイルは、DJプレイだけに留まらず、彼のプロダクションにも色濃く反映されており、the xxの"Crystalised"、RitonのプロジェクトEine Kleine Nacht Musikの"Feuerprobe"、Unitsの1982年のクラシック"High Pressure Days"といった代表的なリミックス・ワークは非常に高く評価されている。その他にも、Golden Filter、New Young Pony Club、Scissor Sisters、Gossip、Chromeo、Of Montrealといったアーティストのリミックスを手がけ、2009年末には、Codekから自身の名義によるトラック"Solar Breakfast"をリリースした (In Flagranti監修のコンピレーション"Electric Fling"に収録)。現在のクラブにおいても彼が手がけたトラックは人気が高く、Aeroplane、Erol Alkan、A-Trak、Joakim、Mylo、Alex Metric、Rob Da Bank、Annie Mac、Simian Mobile Disco、Soulwax、Andrew Weatherall、Tigaといった数多くのDJ達にプレイされている。
From darkened basements to superclubs, Rory Phillips has been illuminating London's nightlife for a decade now, with his residencies at Durrr, Our Disco and Trash as well as frequent appearances at clubs throughout the rest of Europe, North America and Asia.Following a late 90's apprenticeship ducking bottles in the provincial clubs of the UK, Rory moved to London where his eclectic taste and hunger for discovering new sounds caught the ear of Erol Alkan, who, following a series of late night track-swapping sessions, invited him to become a resident at his Monday night party Trash, hosting a room dedicated solely to new music, which was quickly followed by a regular headline slot at East London's mutant disco Mecca, Our Disco.Somewhere between his new discoveries for Trash and the crate digging of Our Disco, Rory's signature sound was born. One eye to the future complimented by a predilection for unearthing lost gems. Post-Punk, Rock, Electro, Disco and Synthpop are all thrown into the mix with Rory joyously joining the dots between the genres, celebrating their similarities rather than accentuating the differences.This approach has continued to his production work, best defined by last years remix compilation, released as a limited 12" on his own Hungry Beat imprint. Highlights included The xx's Crystalised transformed into a moody, late night synth-pulser, Krautrock transported to the dancefloor with a riotous remix of Riton's Eine Kleine Nacht Musik project, and the mutant funk of his remix of Units 1982 classic High Pressure Days. Original material has started to see the light of day too, in the form of Solar Breakfast released by kindred spirits In Flagranti on their Codek imprint.Alongside further remix credits for The Golden Filter, New Young Pony Club, Scissor Sisters, Gossip, Chromeo and Of Montreal these form a body of work as diverse as the range of DJs that have played them, which, in the last year alone, has included Aeroplane, Erol Alkan, A-Trak, Joakim, Mylo, Alex Metric, Rob Da Bank, Annie Mac, Simian Mobile Disco, Soulwax, Andrew Weatherall and Tiga.

【ALTZ (FLOWER OF LIFE, DFA, BEAR FUNK)】
岐阜生まれ、大阪育ち。思春期に手にしたラジカセ、ギターからその遍歴はスタートする。80s`ブームに巻き込まれ、当時、マンドリン、ベース、スライドギターなどをバンドアンサンブルに持ち込み、在籍していたグループJUNKYARD, RUMBLE FISHなどに彩りを添えた。このころから音楽にのめり込むこととなる。サイケ、ハードロックからフォーク、ポップス、サザンロック、カントリー、ブラックミュージックなど様々なエッセンスを吸収するなかで、独自のレンジが形成され、後のダンスミュージックシーンで異彩をはなつようになる。大阪芸大在学中のX0年代にさしかかる頃に放浪癖、特にインドや東南アジアでのサイケデリックカルチャーとの遭遇によってしだいにエレクトリックな方向へ移行。その当時のMPCサンプラーでの録音物がALTZの母体となる。 味園という地でBETALANDとともに仕掛けた〈FLOWER OF LIFE 〉の始動後、師才〈WOODMAN〉が手がけるレアブリーズ・レーベルから1st「FANTASTICO」を発表。その後DJ活動と平行して次々作品をリリース。「La La La」(2005.LASTRUM)、「Yell」(2006.BEAR FUNK)、「V4」(2007.LASTRUM)。現在4タイトルのフルアルバムを発表している。ファニーかつファンキーなテイスト、そしてなにより摩訶不思議なレンジとオリジナルなグルーブをもつ。また、その陰にはエンジニアリングを担当するKABAMIXの存在もある。 海外ではスティーブ・コッテイ、イジャット・ボーイズ、ストレンジ・フルーツ、ブレナン・グリーンなどとも交流をもとに、ロンドン、ブータン、NYミニツアーや、BEAR FUNK, DFA, といったレーベルからの12インチ 、アルバムなど。国内外のアーティストのリミックスを含めると相当な量のテイクをリリースしている。どのカテゴリーにも属さないプレイを武器に、ローカルクラブ、フェスを自由に渡り歩き、アンダーグラウンドながら様々なパーティーとセッションを重ねている。またDVDやゲームトラック、TVコマーシャルなどにも楽曲提供。WALTZ, ADALTZ関連の様々な名義でのリリースも巷で話題になった。 近作では、「EPICS AND DONUTS, MUNGOLIAN JETSET REMIX」「CRO-MAGNON , THE REMIX」(LASTRUM) 、「DUBDUB ON-SENG, CALYPSO ON-SENG」(JAPONICA)、「BOREDOMS, VOALTZ, RERELER」(RHYTHM REPUBLIC)「UKAWANIMATION!, ZAUNDTRACK」(AVEX)など。
